Get ready for your wedding dress shopping experience with these top tips

1. Initial ideas
Before you even start looking, you should know the exact date and location of your wedding. Choosing the right dress will be a lot easier if you know what time of year you’ll be getting married and if you can visualise the setting.

2. Choosing a store

Think carefully about what you want from your shopping experience and choose a wedding salon that will live up to your expectations. This will be one of the most important days of your life, so make sure that you’re in the best possible hands with a consultant who will provide professional assistance from your first appointment to the big day.

3. Delivery times

It can take between three and six months for a wedding dress to be delivered. You should be planning your dress shopping at least six to nine months in advance in order to leave enough time for fittings. Of course, if you’re in a hurry, you can buy certain dresses ‘off the rack’ or order one at short notice for an express fee.

4. The appointment

Book an appointment to ensure you’ll have your ZORO consultant’s undivided attention. Our Saturday and evening appointments are generally very popular – if you’d prefer a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere for your shopping experience, we recommend arranging an appointment for a weekday.

5. Budget

Set a realistic budget for your wedding attire. Make sure your ZORO consultant knows your budget so that she can take it into account when bringing you a selection of dresses. Don’t forget that any alterations will be charged separately. A popular option among our more cost-conscious brides is our annual end-of-season ‘sample sale’, where you can snap up a designer wedding dress for a much lower price.

6. What to bring with you

Nothing but your excitement... We recommend arriving with a little makeup on and your hair in your favourite, most flattering style – this way, you’ll feel relaxed and comfortable, and particularly beautiful when you look into our large mirrors. Of course, we’ll provide things like shoes and push-up bras for you to try on. For reasons of hygiene, our brides may not try on our lingerie for longer appointments. We therefore recommend bringing a strapless bra with you.

7. Who to bring with you

Make sure you bring your most supportive and decisive friends or family members with you to your first appointment. When your heart starts to race as you try on your dream dress for the first time, you’ll want your loved ones by your side!
But please make sure you don’t bring too many people. We kindly ask our brides to bring no more than two or three people with you (depending on the consultation chosen). We recommend bringing close friends or family members who understand and respect your style and, most importantly, will really enjoy sharing the experience with you!

8. The dream dress
Make sure you talk through your ideas and preferences with your ZORO consultant. You could even bring along some photos of dresses that have caught your eye. And most importantly: keep an open mind and trust us! Our consultants are styling specialists who know our entire collection inside out. They’ll help you find your perfect dress.

9. Know your size
As soon as you’ve found your perfect dress, we’ll need to take your measurements. If you choose one of our couture dresses, you can have it customised, subject to a surcharge depending on the designer. If you choose one of our ‘ready-to-wear’ dresses, we will compare your measurements with the designer’s size charts to work out the best possible size for you.

10. Paying for your dress
You’ll pay half of the total amount when you sign your sales contract and the other half when your dress arrives or, at the latest, at the first fitting. Alterations are always charged separately. After the first fitting appointment, we can calculate the cost of alterations based on the amount of work they will require. You’ll pay this when you collect your dress at the latest. Our seamstresses are highly skilled bridal specialists and will do their best to ensure that your dress fits beautifully.

11. Enjoy your shopping experience
Our most important tip is... have fun! Savour every moment and trust your instincts! We will do our very best to make sure you remember your time with us as a wonderful part of your wedding preparations.
